Sometimes I have to walk a careful line in my job. I really have to be careful now because I've always been on the State side of things and now I am on the vendor side.

Some times my mouth signs the vendor up for more work because it is the right thing to do, but it might not be the most economical or business suave.

Feast went well. I have multiple recipes to email out.

I had an awesome kitchen staff and everything went smoothly. Z may regret working in my kitchen though 'cause I may have to make her life hell at her next feast!

All feast stuff put away in the pantry for the first time in probably 9 months. I was wondering where all my bowls and pitchers were. (they were hiding in the garage still packed in the boxes from W/AT War and Winter Investiture in Jan I guess.

Laundry almost done.

Nap taken on Sunday. Brought to you by the letter J - for cooking dinner for me so I didn't have to.

Hands hurt. This is the worst they have ever felt. They are not swollen, no heat in the joints, just ache. Good thing C came to the event because I'm not sure I would have been able to hold the steering wheel to drive home. May have to go to the doctor (oh no!)

Next up -- helping my Bro with Thanksgiving and helping Gailena plan Cynagua Winter Investiture Feast. And Christmas shopping. I am way behind because I am usually done by now and I haven't even started.

Josh just had his first cooking lesson! He helped me make pea soup for dinner. First he opened the vegetable bullion and put it in the pot. Then he helped me look through the peas, I rinsed them then he added them to the pot.

Now came the tricky part. If you have ever gone out to eat with us you will know that Josh will not touch a knife. If he is given one in his silverware he wants us to remove it before he will use the spoon and fork. Well he just cut up 4 carrots and a potato! Boy was I nervous, but he did great!

Then he added a heaping spoon of minced garlic, water and stirred.

He is checking it now to see how it is doing.

Edited:
It was very good. And there is enough for my lunch tomorrow.

3-day
I signed up for the 2010 Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure! I had such an incredible experience doing the Komen 3-Day for the Cure 2 years ago that I'm going back for more. I'm so excited about this event, even though this year I really know what I've gotten myself into.

Last time I walked I exceeded my fundraising goal thanks to your generosity. So I’m asking once more for your tax-deductible dollars.

But this year I’m asking for something else. Will you pass a copy of this blog and a link to my donation page at 3day.org along to someone else? I’m trying to “fundraise it forward” in an effort to reach a goal of $5,000. Yep, $5K. I’ve never raised anywhere close to that, and I need help.

Why do I walk?

I walk for my mom, who has had to beat back breast cancer more than once.

I walk for my beautiful friend and household member who underwent surgery and chemo this year and is healthy and strong now.

I walk for my neighbor who was fighting breast cancer last time I walked and now has all her hair again.

I walk for a former Princess of the Mist who is still around to hold her son -- when he holds still long enough!

And I walk for those brave strong women who didn't make it but still live on in our memories and hearts.

And selfishly, I walk for myself. My risks are high and I want the medical industry to be working hard to find a cure so I don't ever have to fight breast cancer.

P.S. Don't wait - donate today!

I got almost all of my shopping done for investiture feast. All I need are the apples (Friday) and the beef (no more storage so also Friday). So far I am under budget even though every thing is costing more than I estimated.

I also make the pear mus for the pies, started the two different kinds of bread dough and made two different versions of the radish butter which will be tested on Tuesday hopefully by people who like radishes. I made 170 fish balls for the soup. And dried the bread for the subtlety.

And went shopping for too many hours with my mom -- she bought me some new exercise shoes. My last pair hurt my feet so bad I hate to go to the gym. As a matter of fact they are the reason I pretty much didn't go exercise in October. These should be better.

I went to lunch with my mom today. Usually we go to Panera because they have an awesome vegeterian sandwich or to Mimi' Cafe. Both are in the same shopping center and close enough so I can walk if I want.

But with C off we have cut our going out to eat way back. And I miss my weekly sushi :( So last week I noticed that there was a Japanese place in the shopping center on the other side of the street. I've never actually been in that center so I didn't know what kind of Japanese restaurant it was but I was pretty sure they would have sushi. I asked my mom if she liked Japanese. She said yes. So we went there.

It was a very nice buffet -- with a ton of different kinds of sushi, sashimi, dim sum and some fried type stuff, fruit and desserts kind of hidden when you first started to go to the buffet. My mom said -- I don't really like sushi. !!!!!!

What did she expect at a Japanese restaurant?

She did find enough to eat, but I still don't know exactly what she was expecting?????

It wasn't cheap either. It must have been $10 a person at least. Oh well, next week we will go to Panera.

My dress is done. The good news -- the size 18 that I cut out was too big. The bad news is that the dress does not fit as well as I wanted.

I did find a hat. It was really neat -- I was wandering around the antique store looking for the right hat. I didn't want to try to find something again so every hat I saw that might even work I was carrying with me. An older lady asked me if I was going to buy them and she said she had about 75 hats at home. She was wearing a pretty snazzy one too. She advised me that I should buy the cream wool one because the light green one was strictly for summer. I ended up buying both and some long white leather gloves.

I have a friend whose husband has been battling leukemia. His has been transferred to the UCSF Hospital for a bone marrow transfer and she needs a place to stay for the next couple of months.

Do you know of any studio apartments/small houses she could rent? She was thinking of the area around Lake Merced or the zoo and would prefer to be on the outskirts of the city due to parking issues but needs something quickly so she may not be too picky.

Edited to add: They have a nice house at Lake Tahoe and would be willing to do a house swap also. But it would probably have to be for an extented time because I don't think she wants to keep having to move around for the 3 or so months.
